Michael K. Williams: Omar

Michael K. Williams as Omar from The Wire. He was such a great actor and one of my favorite characters in the show. I started working on this back in August and was gutted to hear that he'd died in September. RIP.

I sculpted the head in Zbrush and Mudbox, using the 3D scan store base mesh topology to start. Other modelling and rendering done in Maya, Xgen for hair/beard/cloth fluff, and Arnold used for rendering.
I used TexturingXYZ maps for the fine pore detail displacement, and as a basis for the diffuse map, and also projected some pore details from a 3dScanStore HD scan for the areas that the XYZ map didn't cover.
